7 MOST HAUNTED PLACES IN DELHI – Get ready to get scared


Delhi – The capital of India. It is one of the most modern and developed cities in the country famous for its attractive and busy lifestyle along with its beauty that lies in its historical monuments, forts, museums, parks and classy places to hang out. And if you are a person who is into a little more than just weird, you might just find for yourself a small treat. Strangely, ironical though, is the fact that the city which is regarded as the very epitome of life and vibrancy should be home to certain alleged places which are strangely desolate, and are supposedly haunted.

Enlisted below are some of the spookiest places in Delhi each of them holding their own stories of sorrow, curse and betray.

Delhi Cantonment

Delhi Cantonment, also known as Delhi Cantt has earned its title for the most Haunted place in Delhi.  It is said that a Ghost of a Lady in White Dress haunts the road there. Supposedly, she died in a car accident on the same road and hasn’t left this living world to this date.  More than a 100 no. of people have alleged that they have seen a lady in white saree by the road asking them for lift. If they stop, the lady vanishes and if they speed up the car, she chases the car at the same speed and disappears into the dark. It is strongly advised not to stop the car while passing by the road at night.

Khooni Nadi (Bloody River)

Flowing through Rohini in Delhi, it is said that anybody entering this river is literally sucked by unnatural forces the moment one enters inside. Several lives have already been lost here that have been often assumed the cases of suicide deaths but the cases are still mysterious and hardly are reasons behind such cases known to anybody.

Sanjay Van – The eerie woods

It is a stretch of beautiful dense forest of nearly 10 km located near Vasant Kunj and Mehrauli, Delhi- 70. This area has many majaars (mausoleum) of sufi saints and you will also find broken embankments of Qila Rai Pithora in the middle of the van which makes it much more spooky. Many have experienced vulnerable noises like crying and screaming of kids and many others have seen a female ghost dressed in white dress and walking around the bushes.

House No. W-3, GK – 1

It is said that an old couple were brutally murdered in their apartment and their bodies were later found in its basement water tank. Legend has it that the spirits of the old couple still reside in the apartment and haunt the ones who try to claim it.  Every night, neighbors hear weeping of some lady from the vacant house. The people, who went there, felt a sensation of being watch all time. Some also claimed to have seen ghastly shadows from outside.

Bhuli Bhatiyari ka Mahal, Jhandewalan

Yet another structure of the Tuglaq era built in 14th century is named after Bu-Ali-Bhatti, the caretaker of this area. It is located near the Delhi Ridge. It is said that it was built as a hunting lodge for the tuglaq rulers. The place has been left abandoned for centuries now. However, rumors claim that the site is haunted by invisible spirits and mysterious noises can be heard in the night. It is said that the place becomes really creepy when the night falls.

Jamali Kamali Tomb and Mosque, Mehrauli

The place is named after two well-known sufi saints Jamali and Kamali, who were buried in 1535. There are voices which call out to the visitors from the mazaar inside the central dome of the mausoleum. People have also reported of being slapped by unseen entities. This makes the one of the scariest places to visit (even in the daylight). It is considered to be highly unsafe to visit this tomb at night.

Feroz Shah Kotla Fort

Located on Bahadur Shah Zafar Road, Feroz Shah Kotla fort was built in 1354. This fort lies ruined and abandoned as it is believed that the fort is inhibited by a multitude of djinns who haunt the dark halls and empty corners. Every Thursday locals can be seen lighting candles and incense sticks; and offering bowls of milk and grain to appease the djinns.

Although the evidences of the extent of spookiness of these sites are not concrete, some people say and believe that they have seen and experienced things that are beyond natural and scared them to the very core of their souls.
