Our dear Bollywood stars too have faced their share of “weighty” issues in the past. So, worry not! If they can do it, so can you. But for now, just sit back and enjoy the ride as we look at the celebs who went from ‘fat to fit’These days it seems like most of the Bollywood actress has dumped the bad habit and focus on their health and beauty.

Sonam Kapoor

Every time Sonam Kapoor steps out, she surprises everyone with two things. Firstly, she stuns all with her fabulous fashion statement, and secondly, with her bold and controversial statements. But, what instantly stunned everybody when she entered Bollywood was her tremendous weight loss. She looks stunningly sexy today. The diva, who is known for her clothes rather than her acting skills, weighed 86 kilos before she signed her first film, Saawariya. She reduced 30 kilos to get that subtle yet sensuous look in her film.

Sonam went through rigorous workout session with weight trainers Shervir and Monisha, Pilates teacher Yasmin Karachiwala, and general fitness trainer Zarine Watson. She even did power yoga and artistic yoga with Bharat Thakur and got trained in Kathak to get a toned body. And even today, she follows the same routine and exercises. Also, she tries different workouts every day in order to keep motivation high to burn more calories.

Bhumi Pednekar

The Dum Laga Ke Haisha actress already weighed 72 kgs, when Bhumi Pednekar actress of shubh mangal saavdhan movie got an offer for the Dum Laga Ke Haisha movie. And for this, she had to put even more weight! But, the actress broke all the stereotypes and made her debut with a role that very few girls can dare to do. However, soon after the film, the actress managed to drop all the extra fat and looks super-fit now! The Mumbai-born actress successfully lost about 27 kilos in a few months, that too without starving herself of her favorite foods.

Once the shoot was over, Bhumi decided that “it was time to let go off Sandhya”, and was determined to lose weight in a “natural and planned” way. Explaining how she started her weight loss journey, the actress explained. “The shoot was over mid-2014, and I went back to my normal life and ghar ka khaana. The weight remained the same for a while, then started coming down.”

Alia Bhatt

The young star of Bollywood who made her debut as a lead actress in the movie, Student Of The Year, was not always as fit as she looks now. This young lady was made to follow a strict diet under daddy, Mahesh Bhatt’s supervision. Alia lost 16 kgs for her dream role in just 3 months after working hard and fighting off all the fat. Alia was on the heavier side when she first auditioned for the film. In fact, Karan Johar made it very clear to Alia that he would consider her for the lead role only if she sheds “20 kgs in the next six months”. It was painful for her to hear about her weight issues straight from one of the most sought after directors of Bollywood. But, instead of ducking under the pillow she took it as a challenge.

Her workout routine mainly consists of altitude training, beach running, swimming, kickboxing, weights, functional and circuit training. Along with this, she also does include the following workouts in her routine:

  • Running on the treadmill (for warm up)
  • Dumbbell raises
  • Push-ups
  • Lateral pull-down
  • Bicep curls

Sonakshi Sinha

When the news of her Bollywood debut made rounds in the tinsel town, she immediately hogged the limelight mainly because of two reasons. Firstly, for being the daughter of a veteran actor- Shatrughan Sinha. And secondly, for being launched opposite Salman Khan in Dabangg. We are sure you must have guessed it by now that we are talking about none other than Sonakshi Sinha. The actress lost almost 30 kgs before entering Bollywood. However, losing weight was not an easy task for her. Still, she got into shape by following some simple mantras. ““It was a combination of proper diet and vigorous exercise that got me to the shape I am in now.” In fact, she is thankful to her co-star Salman Khan, for motivating her to shed that extra weight. It was due to his motivation that the actress lost 30 kgs for her first movie. She says, “He saw potential in me and egged me on to lose weight. I would say his contribution was the highest as I started taking it seriously only after he told me to.”

Parineeti Chopra

This Punjabi kudi has won millions of hearts with her acting talent. Her bindaas attitude makes her different from the rest of the actors. Yes, we are talking about Parineeti Chopra. This bubbly girl soon hogged the limelight, first due to her acting skills and then due to her tremendous weight loss.  Parineeti accepts that before joining Bollywood, she used to be fat and weighed around 86 kilos.

Losing weight was not easy for Parineeti, considering her love for food. But, with a rigorous workout regime and a strict diet plan, she has finally shed those extra pounds. Not many actors openly admit about being overweight. However, Parineeti is one of the few actresses who not just accept, but also talks about her weight issues openly to the media. Parineeti confessed that one of the biggest problems she faced when she was overweight was dressing up. She was sick and tired of ill-fitted clothes and having limited options of what to wear. She could not wear sleeveless and faced tummy issues too.

Zareen Khan

When she entered Bollywood, her first film Veer did not do well at the silver screen. Even her weight drew a lot of criticism. But when she did an item number in Ready, her slimmer avatar became the talk of the town. Yes, we are talking about actress Zareen Khan, who shunned her critics by shedding oodles of weight in just few months. Undoubtedly, the actress has been an inspiration for many ladies out there who struggle to lose unwanted weight. Maybe that is why, a weight loss pill company approached her to endorse their controviersial product for which, they even offered her a whopping amount of Rs. 1 crore. But guess what, she rejected the offer!

Zareen went from a whooping 100 kilograms to 57 kilograms with the help of rigorous training and right diet plan. And after dancing on the tunes of ‘Character Dheela Hai’, the actress was seen in a more-toned and fit body in Housefull 2. This was all because of her gym instructor Yasmin Karachiwala, who made her do Pilates, weight training, and cardio exercise like swimming, jogging and spinning. “Every morning, I do Pilates for an hour and weight training thrice a week with Yasmin. I also do some swimming and jogging and eat every two hours to increase my metabolic rate. Sweets and fried food are a strict no!”

Katrina Kaif

Hot, cute, trendy, seductive, sensuous, bubbly, expressive and much much more, the British-born Indian beauty, Katrina Kaif is undoubtedly a diva.
